MANCHESTER FREE FOR ARTS FESTIVAL 19.10.12 – 26.10.12
The Free for Arts Festival returns to Manchester this October. Born in 2009 from the ideas of three university students the ethos of this non-profit festival remains the same today: an annual celebration of art and performance across the creative genres. The city will play host to a week-long series of events at various exciting locations and here at Aubin & Wills we are thrilled to announce our participation.
This year we’re proud to announce that we’re teaming up with Eleanor Marechal, an emerging local artist and filmmaker, who has been involved with the Free for Arts Festival for the past three years. Eleanor will be creating a series of illustrations using her signature technique of intricate line drawings. Using traditional processes as well as digital methods to create what she defines as ‘portraits of British Style’. The collection is intended to evoke a sense of British heritage, whilst maintaining a modern design aesthetic, fusing old and new to explore the eccentricities of British style.
Come and join us on Monday 22nd October in our Manchester store from 6.30pm for the exclusive private view. On the evening there will be a complimentary bar and a chance to browse the autumn collection.

Next fortnight or so is set to be an exciting and busy one; I’m exhibiting twice.
I’ll be showing work first on Thursday 11th at The Mill Co Annual Exhibition at their new space Mandarin Wharf, London. Should be an amazing event and all Mill Co members are working to the brief of ‘Co-Operation’. I’ve been developing some ongoing work and will be exhibiting two maps which visually depict the Ebenezer Howard’s concept for ’Garden City’ - a utopia based on the idea of a co-operative and self contained existence for its citizens.
The second exhibition is a solo show as part of Free For Arts Festival 2012 at Aubin & Wills. Aubin & Wills create garments with a strong modern british aesthetic and passion for historical fabrics and designs. For this solo exhibition I will be creating playful fashion illustrations - a series of portraits that encapsulate British style staples and help answer the question ‘What is British style?’. I will also be reworking the iconic fox that defines the Aubin & Wills brand in my own signature style.
